As Courtney walked through the door, she couldn't help but smile at the thought of seeing her old friend Daisy after so long. They had met in college and quickly became inseparable, but their lives had taken them on different paths. Now, Daisy was here on business and had promised to make a stop at Courtney's place. Courtney felt her heart racing with excitement as she thought about all the catching up they would do.
She hurried inside, closing the door behind her. She began to tidy up the living room, making sure everything was just perfect for her guest's arrival. The house was small but cozy, and she wanted Daisy to feel at home. As she dusted the shelves and straightened the pictures, she couldn't help but reminisce about all the good times they had shared.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Courtney's heart leapt into her throat as she opened it to reveal a tired but beaming Daisy. "Hi, you!" she exclaimed, wrapping her friend in a warm hug. "I can't believe you're here!"
Daisy returned the hug, sighing contently. "It's good to see you too, Court. This place looks amazing."
They chatted for a while in the living room, catching up on each other's lives. Courtney noticed that Daisy seemed distracted, though. "Hey, are you okay?" she asked, concern in her voice.
Daisy shrugged. "I'm just tired. It's been a long day." She paused, biting her lip. "Actually, I'm kind of achy too. My feet have been killing me."
Courtney's eyes widened in realization. "Oh no, you must be exhausted from all that walking around! Let me show you to your room."
She led Daisy upstairs, pointing out the bathroom on the way. "I hope you don't mind sharing, but the bathroom's down the hall. Feel free to use it whenever you want."
Daisy nodded gratefully. "Thank you so much, Court. You're the best." She sighed, leaning against the doorframe. "I think I'm just going to take a quick shower and wash my feet. They need it so bad."
Courtney smiled reassuringly. "Of course, take your time. I'll just leave you to it."
As Courtney headed back downstairs, she couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. She missed those days when they were young and carefree, when all they had to worry about was washing their feet after a long day. Now, she was responsible for an entire kingdom, with its own set of worries and concerns.
She sighed, rubbing her temples. Being a queen could be tiring sometimes, emotionally and mentally. But then she thought of Daisy, her old friend who was here now, and that helped to lift her spirits. She decided to make some tea and relax in the living room, waiting for Daisy to finish up.
A few minutes later, Daisy emerged from the bathroom, her hair freshly washed and curled. She looked so much better, and Courtney couldn't help but feel a surge of happiness. "I made some tea," she said, gesturing to the living room. "Why don't you join me?"
Daisy nodded gratefully, following her old friend into the living room. As they sipped their tea and caught up on each other's lives, Courtney couldn't help but feel grateful for their friendship. It had been a long time, but it was as if no time had passed at all.
As the sun began to set outside, Courtney and Daisy decided to order in some food. They talked and laughed, reliving old memories and creating new ones. As Courtney watched her friend enjoy the meal, she realized that sometimes, all you needed was a good friend and a cozy place to stay to feel right at home.
Later that night, as they were getting ready for bed, Daisy turned to Courtney with a mischievous glint in her eye. "Hey, you know what would be fun?"
Courtney raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What's that?"
Daisy grinned. "Well, remember how you used to wash my feet after long days of walking? I was thinking we could do that again, for old time's sake."
Courtney's heart skipped a beat at the thought. It had been years since they'd done that, but the memory was still fresh in her mind. "Are you sure?" she asked, her voice catching slightly.
Daisy nodded, already unlacing her shoes. "Of course! It's been too long since we've done something silly like this."
With that, Courtney set down her teacup and followed Daisy's lead, removing her shoes and socks. They made their way to the bathroom, where Daisy sat down on the edge of the tub. Courtney knelt behind her, feeling a shiver run down her spine at the realization of what she was about to do.
Gently, she began to massage Daisy's feet, feeling the tension in her muscles ease with each passing moment. It was a simple act, but it meant so much more to both of them. They were here, together again, living in the moment and forgetting about the world outside.
As Courtney continued to work on Daisy's feet, she couldn't help but wonder: could this be a sign that sometimes, all you needed was a little trip down memory lane to remind you of what truly mattered in life?
